Euthanasia

Euthanasia is causing a terminally ill patient to die by withholding medical treatment or causing him/her to die by administering a lethal dose of some substance. Some people believe that this is morally humane because it relieves the patient from suffering and allows him/her to die with dignity. Some people believe in the sanctity of life and that it should be lived to its fullest. The wishes of the patient is always considered. Where the patient has not expressed a wish, the family makes the decision in consultation with the doctor and sometimes the clergy. A more difficult issue is a person who is disabled but otherwise healthy. Euthanasia is illegal in almost every country in the world, though some countries "look the other way."
